Maitri Yoga is named for the concept of “loving kindness” that is embodied by “maitreiya” or “metta” in Buddhism, the idea that all beings are capable of and deserving of the gift and receipt of love and kindness. When we find this strength and peace of compassion within ourselves, we are better equipped to share it fully with others, in a space of calm, non-judgement and creativity. When we can access and experience the divine within ourselves, we can recognize it in all beings. This can become a ripple effect outwards from us to others. Self-awakening and self-knowledge is our birthright, and the joy of community with others and with nature is our blessing.
